PlayStation fans, the confirmation is finally here. Sony Entertainment has announced the new Sony PlayStation 3 or PS3 Slim going to be available worldwide starting September 1st 2009. (Pre-order here)
What's the big difference between the new PS3 Slim and the bulky PS3? Well, just by looking at the price tag, the new PS3 Slim is going to cost only $299. It is less expensive than the bulky PS3. If you are waiting for the price of a PS3 console to come down, now September is a good time to jump in and you will be able to enjoy the new PS3 Slim.
The major visible differences between the new PS3 and the old one are PS3 Slim is not shiny and is less touch sensitive as it is replaced by a textured surface and physical buttons, and a lot smaller and
thinner.
The PS3 Slim comes with 120GB harddrive, built in Wi-Fi network card, and the same two USB ports in the lower left front panel. It is still not compatible with PS3 games, lacking IR functionality and the ability to install other operating systems such as Linux.
The PS3 Slim not only cuts down the price, but it also cuts down the physical size (33% smaller), the weight (39%
lighter), and the power use (34% less).
