HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 9/8/2009 - Bedknobs and Broomsticks, originally released in 1971, has many similarities to Mary Poppins (1964). It’s a musical that combines live action and animation. It shares with Mary Poppins actors David Tomlinson and Reginald Owen, Disney songwriters the Sherman Brothers, director Robert Stevenson, art director Peter Ellenshaw, and music director Irwin Kostal.
In Bedknobs and Broomsticks, apprentice witch Miss Price and three Cockney children war evacuees seek sorcerer Emelius Browne, who turns out to be an illusionist con man, and not a very good one. Browne is played by David Tomlinson. Price is played by Angela Landsbury. The three children are played by Cindy O’Callaghan, Roy Snart and Ian Weighill. They travel on a enchanted flying bed across war-torn England and beyond searching for the missing
